I firmly believe now that ‘Offence is the best Defence’. Here’s why:
I am done with the ‘chasing’ part. I’ve had enough of seeking validation, getting ready for occasions just to avoid judgment, being active on LinkedIn because recruiters value it, or posting photos on Instagram to prove I’m living a certain lifestyle.
No more chasing editors because I believe in my story, or asking for overdue payments from my employer. I’m done with requesting leave when needed, following up on publications for my royalties, and trying to get responses to my emails and messages because, frankly, ‘they don’t care’. I’ve decided that 2024 will be different.
Inspired by ‘The Atomic Habits’, I will engage in activities I enjoy and avoid those I don’t, focusing on nurturing my inner being.
Yes, I know everyone talks about this in December and then forgets by the first week of January. But for me, it’s different. I won’t forget because I understand the in-depth calculations of how ‘we humans work’. We don’t really care about ‘us’; it’s always about them. And that’s why I’ve realized the best offense is the best defense. Why? Because when you do what you’re good at, the rest will follow. I won’t chase editors; they will come to me if they like my stories, which I’ll publish on Medium.com.
Even if the chances are slim, it will boost my confidence. This approach will preserve my self-esteem and integrity, which I felt I was losing every minute in my personal and professional life.
We need to do what’s good for us, and while it doesn’t apply everywhere, I can at least start in my professional life. Enough with exposing my vulnerability to others who just take advantage of it. I’m ready to be my 2.0 version, a version nobody has seen before. I will fight against them mentally, because physically, I can never — after all, I am a skinny guy with no abs.
Standing at the threshold of my new chapter — the 2.0 version of myself. It’s like waking up to a new sunrise, where the rays are my renewed aspirations and the horizon, a canvas of possibilities.
I remember the days when I used to wake up to the sound of notifications, a digital symphony that dictated the rhythm of my day. Emails, social media updates, urgent messages from clients — a never-ending cycle. It felt like I was a marionette, dancing to the tunes of others’ expectations. But not anymore. This year, I’m tuning out the noise and tuning into my inner voice.
I’ve realized that my time and creativity are not a commodity to be bartered with. No longer will I undersell my skills, nor will I let the fear of rejection overshadow my passion for writing. It’s like I’ve been wearing lenses tinted with doubt and apprehension for too long, and now, I’m seeing the world in its true colors — vibrant, unapologetic, and full of opportunities.
I’ve started writing not just for the sake of publication, but for the joy it brings.
Each word I pen down is a stroke of my authentic self, a piece of my story waiting to resonate with someone out there. And guess what? It’s liberating. There’s a strange sense of freedom in expressing myself without the shackles of external validation.
Remember those endless follow-ups with editors? Well, they’ve been replaced with the joy of crafting stories that I believe in, stories that I publish on my own terms.
And the most surprising part? People are starting to notice. It’s like planting a garden in your backyard and suddenly finding visitors admiring your flowers. They came not because I chased them, but because they were drawn to the authenticity of my work.
I’m learning to embrace the power of ‘no’ — a small word with monumental impact.
No to projects that don’t align with my values. No to working conditions that drain my creativity. It’s not about being defiant; it’s about setting boundaries.
It’s about understanding that saying no to something means saying yes to something else — maybe a new hobby, a passion project, or just some well-deserved ‘me’ time.
As for my physical presence, well, I might not have the abs of a superhero, but I’ve realized my strength lies elsewhere. It’s in my resilience, my ability to weave stories that touch hearts, and my courage to break the mold and tread a path less traveled.
So, here I am, embarking on this journey of self-discovery and transformation. It’s a road with its own set of bumps and turns, but I’m ready. Ready to explore, to create, to inspire, and to be unapologetically me.
My 2.0 version might still be a work in progress, but it’s a masterpiece in the making.
And who knows? Maybe one day, my inbox will be flooded not with reminders of what I have to do but with acknowledgments of what I have done. A writer not defined by the volume of his work, but by the depth of his impact.
Here’s to the new beginnings, to the stories yet to be told, and to the relentless spirit of never giving up.
The 2.0 version of me might just be my best one yet.
I have embraced the philosophy that ‘Offense is the Best Defense,’ now I’ve realized how this applies not just in theory, but in the real-life canvas of my own journey — from founding India’s highest-rated content writing company, Write Right, to authoring bestsellers like ‘The Unproposed Guy.’ This mantra isn’t about aggression; it’s about harnessing the same drive and initiative that led me to scale companies and author impactful SEO articles.
My past defensive stance in professional settings was like building a fortress, similar to the early days when I was establishing my businesses. I was always adapting, reacting to market demands, and conforming to industry norms. But now, leveraging my experience and the insights gained from contributing to platforms like HuffPost and Entrepreneur, I’ve shifted to a proactive approach. It’s about setting the narrative, much like I do in my articles and books, not just responding to it.
Taking an offensive stance in my writing career means crafting stories and articles that resonate with my authentic voice, not just what’s trending. This proactive approach is mirrored in how I led my companies, driving forward with innovation rather than just responding to competitors. It’s about creating opportunities, like when I expanded my team from 2 to 75, charting a path for growth based on foresight and ambition.
I really think, in the realm of my professional interactions, this offensive strategy has been transformative. Just as I negotiated the successful sale of my companies, I now negotiate terms that favor my growth as a writer and entrepreneur. I bring the same assertiveness and clarity to my communications that helped me get featured in Forbes and the Times of India, ensuring my voice is heard and my goals are pursued.
Even in personal development, the philosophy of ‘Offense is the Best Defense’ resonates deeply. It mirrors the proactive stance I’ve taken in sharing my knowledge about digital marketing, AI, and business automation — not just absorbing information, but shaping discussions and leading thoughts in these fields.
Adopting an offensive approach is about channeling the entrepreneurial spirit and writer’s insight that has defined my career. It’s about steering my personal and professional journey with the same conviction and forward-thinking approach that has marked my success. I’m not just surviving in the fast-paced worlds of business and writing; I’m thriving by being a step ahead, taking the reins, and transforming challenges into stepping stones.
So yes, ‘Offense is the Best Defense’ perfectly encapsulates my approach. It’s a philosophy that underpins my journey from a passionate writer and entrepreneur to a thought leader and influencer in my field. It’s about living boldly, empowered by the rich tapestry of experiences that shape my unique story.
